Nashville is such a great place to live! There is always something that you can do. It is no different during the holiday season. There are so many family-friendly things to do and see during this special time of the year.
Gaylord Opryland- The Opryland Resort has several different events going on during this season. One of the favorites is ICE! This year, the theme is Frosty the Snowman. The entire walk through exhibit is made of ice! Ice sculptures depict the scenes from the story. It even includes a two story slide made of ice! This is such a great thing for families to do together. Click hereto find out more information about ICE!
Another one of Opryland’s events is the Radio City Rockettes. I can’t think of many other ways to get into the Christmas spirit than seeing the breathtaking performances of singing and dancing. Click here to find out more information about the Radio City Rockettes.
The Dancing Lights of Christmas at Jellystone Park- Talk about a fun experience! For just $25.00 per (non-commercial) car, you can drive through this amazing display of lights. Some of which are synchronized to your favorite Christmas tunes! Afterwards, you can get your picture taken with Santa, make s’mores, walk through a petting zoo, and of course, there are inflatables for the kids! For more information click here.
Fontanel Mansion Tour- You can tour this mansion built by Barbara Mandrell anytime, but since it is fully decorated for Christmas, now is the best time. This 27,000 square foot property sits on 136 acres, and includes a studio gallery, cafe, hotel, amphitheater, and distillery. You can also go zip-lining, play disc golf, or walk on the trails. There are performances going on, so don’t miss out on seeing this beautiful mansion decorated! Click herefor more information on the Fontanel Mansion.
Christmas Lights Tours- There are many different tours of Christmas lights going on throughout Nashville and surrounding areas. ChristmasLand,Nashville Christmas Lights Tour, Festival of Lights, and Grand Avenue just to name a few.
A few other things to do during this holiday season is to get some friends together go caroling at retirement homes, or even around your own neighborhood. You could also bake cookies and give to neighbors.
If you are looking for a charity to donate to, there are several in the Nashville area. The Food Pantry is a great place that is always looking for more food items to be donated and for more people to volunteer to help. The Angel Tree is another opportunity to give to those in order to make their Christmas a little brighter. Children and elderly write down what they want or need down and those wishes are placed on a tree. You then choose a recipient and buy them something from their list. This is for those who otherwise would get little or nothing at Christmas. Another charity is Samaritan’s Purse. This international charity have several different programs that you can choose from. One of which is to fill a shoe-box with gifts for a child. If you don’t have time to go out and buy the things, you can fill a shoe-box virtually as well. They also have programs where you give a child or family a goat or chick. The goat would provide milk for the family daily, and the chick would provide eggs daily that could be eaten or sold for money which would help a family.
With Christmas quickly approaching, we wanted to remind you that your mailman and trash collectors work through all kinds of weather to make your life a little easier. Leaving them a little something would be such a pleasant surprise for them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
